Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about BeamSupply, modding, and our community.
Getting Started
What is BeamSupply?
BeamSupply is a community catalog for BeamNG.drive mods. Listings describe each upload — vehicles, maps, skins, Lua/UI tools, graphics packs, sounds, and misc content — with moderated review, antivirus scanning, downloads from our CDN, and tools like ratings, favorites, upload & forum. Metadata on every page reflects what creators submitted at upload time (we do not scrape the Steam workshop live).
Do I need an account to download mods?
No, you can browse and download mods without creating an account. However, creating a free account unlocks additional features like rating mods, leaving comments, saving favorites, uploading your own mods, and participating in the community forum. We recommend creating an account to get the most out of BeamSupply.
How do I install BeamNG.drive mods from BeamSupply?
Most packages are archives (.zip / .rar / .7z). Extract or copy into your user BeamNG mods folder — typically Documents/BeamNG.drive/mods/ on Windows — following the readme or folder layout inside (common paths include vehicles/, levels/, Lua/, etc.). In-game you can subscribe via BeamNG Repo or activate local mods depending on packaging. Details vary per mod; use the Installation section on each listing when provided.
Will every mod match my BeamNG game version?
BeamNG updates frequently; authors note dependencies when possible. Always read listing notes, changelog, dependencies, minimum game build, Lua requirements, repo links, etc. Large game updates occasionally break scripted mods until authors refresh them — try verifying files in Steam (or reinstalling the affected mod folder) before reporting issues.
Downloads & Files
Why does a download sometimes have a delay?
Free users may encounter a short countdown timer (typically 5-10 seconds) before downloads begin. This helps prevent automated bot abuse and supports our server costs. Premium subscribers enjoy instant downloads with no waiting. The delay also helps us maintain high-speed download servers for everyone.
Are all mods free to download?
Yes! All mods on BeamSupply are completely free to download. We believe in keeping mod content accessible to everyone in the community. Premium subscriptions exist to support the platform and offer convenience features like instant downloads and ad-free browsing, but they never restrict access to mods themselves.
How do I know if a mod is safe to download?
Every file uploaded to BeamSupply undergoes automated virus scanning and security checks. Mods are marked with their scan status. We also have a manual review process for flagged content. User ratings and comments provide additional community feedback. Look for mods with high ratings and positive reviews for the best experience.
What if a download fails or is corrupted?
If you experience download issues, try refreshing the page and downloading again. Ensure you have enough disk space and a stable internet connection. If problems persist, contact us at support@beamsupply.cx with the mod ID and details. We'll investigate and re-upload the file if necessary.
Can I download mods on mobile devices?
Yes, BeamSupply works on phones and tablets, but BeamNG runs on PC. Grab the archive on desktop or sync the downloaded file across to the machine where your Documents/BeamNG.drive mods folder lives.
Uploading & Creating
How do I upload my own mods?
Create a free account and navigate to the Upload page from the main menu. Fill out the required information including title, description, category, and screenshots. Upload your mod file (must be under 500MB for free accounts). After submission, your mod will be reviewed before appearing publicly. Check our upload guidelines for best practices.
Do mods get reviewed before publishing?
Yes, all uploads undergo a review process to ensure quality and safety. This includes automated virus scanning, content guidelines verification, and manual checks for copyright issues. The review typically takes 24-48 hours. You'll receive a notification when your mod is approved or if any issues need to be addressed.
What file formats are accepted?
We accept .zip / .rar / .7z files that BeamNG authors typically ship — include a readme that explains layout, repos, configs, Lua dependencies. Free uploads up to 750 MB per mod (larger allowances for PRO/admins); keep illegal or stolen IP out and credit collaborators when required.
Can I update my uploaded mods?
Yes! Navigate to "My Uploads" in your account dashboard, find your mod, and click "Update". You can modify the description, add new screenshots, or upload a new version. Version history is tracked automatically, and users who previously downloaded your mod may be notified of updates.
What if I want to remove my uploaded mod?
You can delete your mods anytime from the "My Uploads" section. Click the mod, then select "Delete". This action is permanent and will remove all associated data including downloads, ratings, and comments. Consider marking it as "deprecated" instead if you want to preserve the history.
Community & Support
How does the rating system work?
Registered users can rate mods from 1 to 5 stars based on quality, accuracy, and enjoyment. You can only rate each mod once, but you can update your rating anytime. Ratings help other users discover the best content and provide valuable feedback to creators. Average ratings are displayed on mod pages and in search results.
Can I request specific mods?
Yes! Visit our Requests section to submit mod requests or browse existing requests. Describe the car, track, or content you're looking for with as much detail as possible. Creators browse requests looking for inspiration, and you'll be notified if someone fulfills your request. You can also vote on requests to show interest.
How do I report a mod or file?
Each mod page has a "Report" button. Click it and select the reason: copyright violation, malware, broken download, inappropriate content, or other issues. Provide detailed information to help our moderation team investigate. You can also email support@beamsupply.cx with the mod link and explanation.
I found a bug. Where do I contact support?
Report bugs or technical issues by emailing support@beamsupply.cx. Include your username (if you have an account), what you were trying to do, what happened instead, your browser and operating system, and screenshots if applicable. We typically respond within 24 hours and appreciate detailed bug reports!
Where can I chat with other players or get help?
Use our forum at beamsupply.cx/forum for mod questions, setups, and discussion. Logged-in users can also use on-site chat. For private support (account issues, bugs, DMCA), email support@beamsupply.cx.
Account & Privacy
Is my personal information safe?
Yes. We take privacy seriously and follow industry-standard security practices. We only collect necessary information (email, username, password) and never sell your data to third parties. Passwords are encrypted with bcrypt hashing. Read our Privacy Policy for complete details on how we handle your information.
Can I change my username?
Username changes are available once every 30 days. Visit your Account Settings and click "Change Username". Choose an available username that meets our guidelines (3-20 characters, alphanumeric only). Your previous username will be reserved for 7 days to prevent impersonation.
How do I delete my account?
Account deletion can be initiated from your Account Settings page. Click "Delete Account" and confirm your decision. This action is permanent and will remove all your data including uploads, comments, and ratings. Downloaded mods you've uploaded will remain available unless explicitly removed first.
What are the benefits of premium subscription?
Premium subscribers enjoy instant downloads with no waiting, ad-free browsing, priority support, exclusive badges, larger upload limits (2GB vs 500MB), early access to new features, and support the platform's development. Premium is completely optional and never restricts access to mods.
Copyright & Legal
What if my content was uploaded without permission?
If you're the original creator and your work was uploaded without authorization, email dmca@beamsupply.cx immediately with: proof of ownership, the URL of the infringing content, your contact information, and a statement affirming good faith belief. We respond to DMCA requests promptly, typically within 24 hours, and will remove infringing content.
Can I upload conversions from other games?
Converted content (ports from other games like Forza, Gran Turismo, etc.) must respect the original licenses and intellectual property rights. Many game companies prohibit such conversions in their terms of service. We may remove converted content upon request from rights holders. Always check the source material's license before uploading conversions.
Are there content guidelines for uploads?
Yes. Uploads cannot include malware, minors/explicit exploitation, harassment, blatantly stolen conversions without proven permission, crashes-on-load abandonware listings, anything illegal, or scams. Content must genuinely target BeamNG.drive ecosystems (vehicles, levels, tooling, skins, Lua, audio, shaders, repos, etc.). See Editorial Policy + Upload guidelines for granular rules.
Technical Troubleshooting
Why is my downloaded mod not showing up in BeamNG?
Most often the archive never reached the right user mods path (commonly Documents/BeamNG.drive/mods/) or you need to activate/configure it in Repo / local mod manager. Re-extract with 7-Zip, keep the folder hierarchy the author shipped, and restart the game—then read the listing’s Installation section for dependencies (Lua, other packs, minimum version).
BeamNG crashes or Lua errors when enabling a mod?
Update the game through Steam, reinstall the mod cleanly, and temporarily disable other scripted/Lua mods that might conflict. Huge traffic + multiple vehicle packs can also stress memory—close background apps, verify GPU drivers, and check the author’s notes for required companion mods or map versions.
Pink/missing textures?
Incomplete extraction, wrong mod version, or conflicting skin repacks. Re-download, extract again, and confirm you did not nest duplicate folders. Heavy graphics packs need enough VRAM—lower texture quality in Options → Graphics if textures fail to stream.
How much hardware do I need for modded BeamNG?
BeamNG scales with traffic, map size, and mods. 16 GB RAM + a mid-tier GPU is comfortable for many workshops; heavy stunt servers with dozens of cars can need more. Install on an SSD, cap traffic if FPS drops, and keep Windows power mode on High Performance when testing huge maps.
Force feedback feels wrong?
BeamNG adjusts FFB per vehicle in Options → Controls → Force Feedback. Calibrate your wheel, match the device preset, and tweak smoothing/gain for that specific car—there is no universal “AC preset” because every JBeam vehicle is different.
Poor FPS even on good hardware?
Lower shadow cascades and reflection distances, shrink draw distance sliders, disable optional post effects, spawn fewer AI, or simplify vehicle configs. Scripted UI mods may also hitch—isolate by disabling addons one at a time.
Mod Types & Installation
What is the difference between a full vehicle vs a repaint/skin?
A full vehicle/mod brings its own `.pc`/JBeam setup, meshes, configs, sounds, sometimes Lua. Skin/paint jobs usually bolt onto an existing authored vehicle bundle—unpack into the precise slot the readme names so the game resolves materials correctly.
How do map / level mods work?
Level packs mirror BeamNG folder conventions (`levels/`, textures, forestry, decals). Drop them alongside other mods then load the map from Singleplayer or use whatever scenario the readme references. Larger terrains demand more VRAM/time to stream—patience during first spawn is normal.
How do Lua or UI mods install?
They usually live under Lua apps or scripted UI bundles inside the mods directory. Activate them inside the launcher’s UI Repo or checkbox list. Some require restarting the UI layer—again follow authors’ readme because Lua paths evolve with game patches.
Sounds, props, shaders, miscellaneous tweaks?
Engine swaps, sirens, props, shaders, QoL tweaks all slot into their respective folders declared by the readme. BeamNG does not magically merge duplicates—rename conflicting bundles or ask the creator which load order wins.
Multiplayer & Servers
Do BeamNG mods sync on multiplayer?
Most third-party BeamNG multiplayer tooling requires every player to ship the exact same zipped content the host lists. Mirror version numbers the server posts, reinstall when organizers pin new builds, and never assume Steam Workshop parity unless the server explicitly says so.
Why am I kicked for “missing content”?
Your local mod hash doesn’t match the session’s manifest. Re-download the pack from the link the host provides, remove obsolete duplicates in your mods folder, and restart the client before reconnecting.
Can I host my own session?
Yes—follow whichever multiplayer platform you use (official MP update, community bridges, etc.) and publish a mod list + checksums. BeamSupply only hosts the files; session rules live with you and your players.
What about other sims?
BeamSupply catalogs BeamNG.drive uploads. Older pages elsewhere on this site may mention other titles for archival reasons.
